More on KentOnline
Over the past decade, glamping has become a hugely popular trend for holiday-makers who want to find that sweet spot between a budget British staycation and splashing the cash on an overseas getaway.
Kent’s campsites have certainly become part of the glamping boom, and the county now boasts some spectacular spots where you can treat yourself to a touch of luxury without straying too far from home. Here are some of our top picks if you’re thinking about booking a glamping break this summer…
ELMLEY NATURE RESERVE, near Sheerness
Stay in the heart of this beautiful nature park and reconnect with your wild side. The range of accommodation at Elmley has everything from woodland bell tents with comfy double beds and charging ports to shepherd’s huts with outdoor bathtubs and firepits for toasting marshmallows. The interiors of the huts and cottages were designed by Francesca Rowan-Plowden, who competed in the most recent series of BBC’s The Traitors. Each room, or tent, has stunning views of the reserve and its wildlife.

The domes themselves come with outdoor decking, hot tubs and skylights that can be uncovered so you can gaze up at the stars from your floating king-size bed.

Each pod has its own individual style, but they all come with a small kitchen, an ensuite bathroom and a private terrace with views of the farm. WOOLPACK INN, near Maidstone
The Woolpack Inn, a country pub run by Kent’s own Shepherd Neame brewery, introduced three new glamping pods to its back garden in 2022. The huts, which were built to help the pub survive post-pandemic, are just a stone’s throw from the 16th-century tavern and include double beds, sofa beds, hot showers, USB sockets and a small kitchen area. Our reporter spent a night there shortly after the pods opened and praised the Scandi-chic decor and fantastic pub grub.
