The chance to watch world class theatre comes to Folkestone next week.

Folkestone Quarterhouse is launching National Theatre Live screenings, which broadcasts world class theatre to venues across the UK and internationally. Since 2009 more than 40 productions have been screened, watched by more than 5.5m people.

Peter Shaffer's iconic play Amadeus kicks off the screenings on Thursday, February 2 at 7pm. Sold out at the National Theatre, it stars Lucian Msamati from Luther and Game of Thrones as Salieri, a court composer who has the power to promote or destroy rowdy young prodigy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

On Thursday, February 16, at 7pm Josie Rourke directs Gravesend's Gemma Arterton in Bernard Shaw's classic play Saint Joan. Broadcast live from the Donmar Warehouse, Saint Joan follows the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a bloody mission to drive the English from France.

Tony Award-winning director Ivo Van Hove directs Ibsen's masterpiece Hedda Gabler, starring Ruth Wilson from Luther on Thursday, March 9 at 7pm. Just married and bored already, Hedda and Tesman return from their honeymoon to discover that their relationship in trouble. Trapped but determined, Hedda tries to control those around her, only to see her own world unravel. Don’t miss the live broadcast on Thursday 9 March at 7pm.

On Thursday, April 6, Tamsin Greig plays Malvolia, in a twist on Shakespeare's comedy Twelfth Night. A ship is wrecked on the rocks, Viola is washed ashore but her twin brother Sebastian is lost. Determined to survive on her own, she steps out to explore a new land. So begins a whirlwind of mistaken identity and unrequited love.
