Two leading female history authors will be talking about their work and history in fiction.

Sarah Gristwood, author of Blood Sisters and Arbella, and Elizabeth Fremantle, writer of Sisters of Treason and The Queen’s Gambit, will be visiting Deal’s Astor Theatre for its Talking Books evening on Friday, November 14.

They will take their audience on a fascinating journey through 16th-century England and share the true stories of the women who gave birth to the Tudor dynasty.

The Tudor period is usually described in terms of the men involved, but in reality women played a central role: the tales of conflicted maternity and monstrous births are full of female energy and drama.

Both talks promise an interesting insight into the political skills of women and the decadent, conniving, back-stabbing world of the court. There will be a question and answer session afterwards, followed by a book signing.
