Ever fancied trying a spot of sailing?
Or maybe you’re looking for fun things to do over the weekend with friends or family?
If the answer is yes then set sail for the Whitstable Yacht Club on Saturday, May 11 for a guaranteed day of fun.
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) will once again be running its annual Push the Boat Out campaign throughout May with some 20 venues across Kent and Medway offering open days and taster sessions.
One such event will take place in Whitstable.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone to experience what the club and sailing have to offer,” said training centre principal Richard Maltby.
“We’re a club that is open to all and, of course, everybody’s welcome.”
A range of free and different beach and sea activities will be offered for visitors for all ages, including the chance to try sailing or windsurfing with no experience necessary.
There are also joy rides with experienced sailors and a prize draw with the chance to win a dinghy cruise around Whitstable Bay.
The event will take place between 12pm and 5pm with experienced sailors on hand to offer information, answer questions and show visitors the ropes.
The Taster sessions run will start at the same time but finish an hour earlier and must be booked in advance by emailing training@wyc.org.uk.
Whitstable Yacht Club is currently offering 2 for 1 memberships as well as discounted sailing courses booked on the day.
There are an array of programmes run by the club, from lessons for total novices at our RYA affiliated sailing school, to youth sailing, family activities and up to national level competitive racing.
