The artist behind the popular Museum of the Moon exhibit is to stage a display which will open up a whole new world to visitors.
Luke Jerram's seven metre replica of the awesome astronomical body, created using high definition lunar imagery from NASA, attracted more than 100,000 people to see it when it was suspended over the medieval nave at Rochester Cathedral's Museum of the Moon in February last year.
Now he is set to return with Gaia, an equally awe-inspiring creation, of the Earth.
Skilled selfie takers will be able to have the whole world in their hands when the exhibit reaches Rochester Cathedral in February next year.
The globe, also measuring seven metres in diameter, will feature 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface and will offer the opportunity to see our planet floating in three-dimensions.
It is so-called as in Greek mythology Gaia is the personification of the Earth.
A specially made surround-sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer Dan Jones will be played alongside the sculpture. Museum of the Moon saw the highest ever visitor numbers to Rochester Cathedral with 120,000 people visiting in just 22 days.
It will be on show from Tuesday, February 8, 2022 to Monday, February 28, 2022.
Details on booking tickets and priced are yet to be released. Keep an eye out on the cathedral's website to see when more information is released or click here.
