Kent Air Ambulance lands on Whitstable beach after reports a woman was impaled falling off her tricycle

The air ambulance has landed on Whitstable beach this afternoon after reports a woman was impaled by a brake lever after falling off her tricycle.

The helicopter landed close to the ramp outside Whitstable Yacht Club.

Paramedics and firefighters have also been called to the scene.

A 57-year-old woman has been airlifted to hospital with leg injuries.

Crew manager Darren Dennis says the woman was conscious while firefighters removed the lever.

Kent Air Ambulance spokesman Jill Playle says a helicopter was called to reports of an accidental injury at 3.30pm.

Ambulance spokesman Richard Airey confirmed the woman had been airlifted to Kings College Hospital for further treatment.

Police have not been called to the incident.
