Emergency crews descend on train in Herne Bay after passenger taken ill

Paramedics descended on a train after a passenger was taken ill prompting rail delays.

The incident happened on a carriage in Herne Bay station this afternoon.

Paramedics boarded the train before moving the patient to an ambulance.

Journeys between Faversham and Margate were stopped, but are now moving with delays of up to an hour.

A Southeastern spokesman posted on X: “Trains were delayed between Margate and Faversham while paramedics provided care for an ill passenger onboard a train.

“Trains are now running.

“The three trains affected are running between 20 & 60 minutes late so please check your journey for any amendments to these trains.”

An ambulance spokeswoman added: “We were called at about 12.19pm today to reports of a person in need of medical attention on a train at Herne Bay station.

“Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene before taking them to the QEQM hospital in Margate for further medical treatment.”

Police also attended to assist paramedics.
