Football fan Zak Holman was so confident England would win the World Cup he thought he'd show his support in a cheeky - and very permanent - way.
But the 21-year-old from Whitstable was feeling a little regretful this morning as the prophecy of "it's coming home" - tattooed on his bum - proved off the mark as the Three Lions were dumped out by Croatia.
Zak got the inking at 4am while on holiday with friends in Aiya Napa, Cyprus.
The tattoo, on his right buttock, is inspired by the Lightning Seeds's song, which topped the charts once more as hopes of World Cup glory grew.
"We had a group chat called 'it's coming home', with about 10 of us," explained Zak, a former Community College Whitstable student.
"My friend James Tilley said 'I bet you won't get a tattoo of it', and I was like 'I will if you'll pay for it'.
"So he chucked over the money, and I got it done. I had been drinking.
"It was only 25 euros. The boys at home didn't believe me at first – they thought it was henna or something."
Last night, Zak watched England's semi-final clash with Croatia at the Waterfront in Whitstable.
Even after the 2-1 defeat, he stands by his decision to get the tattoo.
"I feel a little bit of regret now," admitted the Millwall fan, who works in ventilation.
"But I also find it quite funny.
"My mum was angry at first I think, but now she sees the funny side.
"I think I'll keep it.
"We’ve always got the Euros in two years time and another World Cup in four years and I’m sure the tattoo will still be there then."
