A drone photography enthusiast from Whistable hopes sharing his talents will be uplifting for everyone stuck in their homes.

Mark Rhodes has filmed three videos of Kent's coast accompanied relaxing music.

The 44-year-old has been using his drone for aerial photography for four months now, mostly videoing across Whitstable and Herne Bay.

As a pastime, he'll often take footage for fun and share it on Facebook. He also volunteers to use his drone for his surveying jobs as well as filming for castles in the area.

Whitstable Castle commissioned him to film with his drone around the grounds for their website, which is a project he is excited to get to as soon as he can.

Mr Rhodes said: "I just think drone photography is uplifting.

"I've always loved photography and I've always been told I'm pretty good at taking photographs, having sort of an eye for it."

He hopes his videos will be a nice pick-me-up for those trapped indoors due to coronavirus as they can still enjoy a lovely seaside view.

The surveyor who works at adapting disabled people's homes is currently working from home.

He said: "I have to self isolate, unfortunately. I still speak to the teams to make sure they're all safe. It's quite drastic for us to be honest.

"I'm sending guys out there every day and it's a concern for me. We're doing everything we can to protect them and all the care workers we work with."

Mr Rhodes, who lives in Albert Street would love to film Dover Castle when the lockdown is over - if they will let him.

He says he has come a long way since he first bought a drone. The first one he flew was caught in a tree branch and smashed to pieces.

Making the best of it, he set the drone's dying footage of it crashing to the ground to Europe's hit tune, The Final Countdown.

Mr Rhodes hopes with more experience, he'll be able to create even more amazing videos than he does now, using his skills on whatever comes to mind as he explores the coastline.
