A desperate search for a missing pensioner has been called after off after it was reported she was actually in hospital.

Emergency crews and a police helicopter were scrambled early this morning after 75-year-old Eileen Jupe was reported missing from her home in Seafield Road, Tankerton.

But it is thought she had in fact been injured in a fall nearby and taken to hospital.

A neighbour alerted police this morning and the search was stopped.

Police have thanked members of the public for their help.
