Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled a blaze behind a church this afternoon which sent smoke drifting across the Old Thanet Way.
Fire crews were called to the Riverside Church, Thanet Way in Whitstable just before 2pm after reports of a burning skip against a building.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene using a hose reel and main jet to put out the flames.
Photographer Chris Davey said: "There was clouds of thick acrid smoke billowing across the Thanet Way."
The skip is thought to have contained waste including plastic window frames, but the cause of the fire is unknown.
