Girl bitten by dog outside Tesco Express in Tankerton Road, Whitstable

A little girl suffered “puncture wounds” to her finger when she was bitten by a dog outside a shop.

The small dog was tethered near the door to Tesco Express in Tankerton Road, Whitstable, when it attacked the five-year-old at about 5pm on Tuesday, January 23.

Police have since been carrying out enquiries and are now looking for a man in the area who may be able to assist.

He is described as white, of slim build and with a slim face, wearing a blue jacket with white reflective patches and a green beanie hat.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses following a report that a girl was bitten by a dog in Tankerton.

“It is alleged that the girl was bitten as she walked past a small dog that was tethered outside the shop door.

“The girl sustained puncture wounds to her finger and received treatment for her injuries.”

The child was with a woman at the time of the incident.

Police were unable to confirm the breed of the dog.
