A dog walker returned home to find their kitchen had caught fire.

They had accidentally left a pan on the hob which overheated, causing smoke to billow out of the property.

It happened in Saint Lukes Close, Whitstable, at around 3.10pm and two fire engines were sent to the scene.

Fire crews were called to the home in Tunbridge Wells after a chip pan fryer set alight

Crews wearing breathing apparatus went into the house and quickly dealt with the flames using a hose reel jet and special fan to clear smoke and fumes.

The fire was out within 14 minutes and only the pan was damaged.

No other details were available.
