Marks and Spencer reopen 3 cafés in Kent including Bluewater, Whitstable and Maybrook Retail Park in Canterbury

Shoppers at three Marks & Spencer stores in Kent will be able to buy takeaway hot drinks from today in its cafés.

The retailer has reopened its in-store cafés in Bluewater, Whitstable and Maybrook Retail Park in Canterbury.

But it has warned customers they may have to wait longer than usual for their beverage.

The 49 cafés reopening across the UK have been selected because they are located next to its food halls.

They will also operate with the same social distancing and extra hygiene measures like its food halls - which have remained open during the coronavirus pandemic.

Perspex screens will be placed at each till and staff have been told to wash their hands every 30 minutes.

The company will also only allow one staff member behind the counter at any one time.

It comes as three McDonald's reopened in Kent this week - but only for delivery.

A number of KFC drive-thrus have also reopened for chicken lovers across Kent.
