Man arrested after six shops burgled in Broadstairs, Whitstable, Westgate and Cliftonville

A man has been arrested by police investigating six shop raids.

There were reports of four break-ins and an attempted burglary in stores in Broadstairs, Whitstable, Westgate and Cliftonville.

Police were contacted about the incidents in the early hours of Sunday.

Shops and chemists were targeted in Mildred Road in Westgate, Broadstairs High Street and Whitstable High Street - and the attempted burglary was in Summerfield Road, Cliftonville.

A further two burglaries at the same commercial premises in Broadstairs High Street on October 26 and November 22 are also being investigated and believed to be linked.

Goods including luxury cosmetics and perfumes were swiped during the raids.

A 39-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of burglary yesterday morning and released on bail until December 21.
