Man stabbed outside Hungry Horse pub the Wheatsheaf in Swalecliffe near Whitstable

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the car park of a Hungry Horse pub.

Emergency services were called to The Wheatsheaf in Herne Bay Road, Swalecliffe, near Whitstable, following reports a customer in his 30s had been injured.

The punter was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident at about 6pm on Sunday.

Russell Brazier, 31, of Shelley Avenue, Canterbury, has since been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was also charged with one count of burglary and criminal damage relating to an incident on the afternoon of Sunday, October 9, at a property in Canterbury.

He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today where he was remanded in custody.

The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

"All our thoughts are with our customer at this time...”

A spokesperson from the Wheatsheaf said: “There was an incident in the car park on Sunday evening involving a customer.

"We immediately called the police and an ambulance to attend, and are now fully supporting the police in their investigation.

"All our thoughts are with our customer at this time."

It is understood the man's injuries were not life-threatening.
