Enigmatic graffiti artist Catman has struck again in Whitstable - this time with a poignant image of a child blowing bubbles.

The Banksy-style street painter - who keeps his identity firmly under wraps - daubed his latest image on the side of The Clothes Horse shop in Harbour Street overnight.

It shows a small boy blowing bubbles which form the word Whitstabubble - an affectionate nickname for the seaside town.

The Catman artwork appeared in Whitstable overnight

It will likely be admired by thousands of visitors who are due to descend on the town this weekend for the annual Oyster Festival.

Catman said: "It's a play on the town's nickname with the use of bubbles tied in to the word Whitstabubble.

"Originally it was just going to be Whitstable, but it was too much of a good opportunity to let pass by to play on it."

It follows other urban masterpieces that have mysteriously appeared around the town over the past two years.

They include the sketch of Mona Lisa wearing a thigh slit dress next to Wareham's antiques in Oxford Street, which materialised in April.

He also struck in February, when he spray-painted an image of a shanty singer urging people to "drink local" in Harbour Street.

The diver, arguably Catman's most iconic work

The popular artist revealed his latest piece of work on his Facebook page today.

Fans posted messages of approval, with Elaine Platt saying: "Oh my I love this! Looks just like my son blowing bubbles," and Helen Louise adding: "Another quality piece of Whitstable artwork".
