A person has been found dead on a railway line following reports of somebody on the tracks.
Emergency services were called to Chestfield and Swalecliffe station at 7.30am today.
Paramedics attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the transport police said: "Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Authorities have not yet disclosed if the person who died is a man or a woman.
The tragedy caused disruption to services in the area and replacement buses were operating between the two stations.
Trains running between Faversham and Ramsgate or between Faversham and Dover Priory were delayed, revised or cancelled.
But Southeastern has since tweeted an update to say Network Rail has reopened the line.
The first trains to run was the Faversham to Margate service at 10.55am, followed by Margate to Faversham at 11.04am.
