A woman in her 70s has died after collapsing in a residential street.

Paramedics and an air ambulance were called to Gordon Road, Whitstable, after the woman was found in need of urgent medical attention.

Despite desperate efforts to save her, she tragically died at the scene shortly after 3pm yesterday.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "Ambulance crews attended following reports of a woman found collapsed in need of medical attention.

"They were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

"Sadly, despite the efforts of all those involved, the woman died at the scene."

The air ambulance landed in nearby Duncan Down.
