They have both been released, but remain under investigation.

Appeal comes three weeks after the incident

Officers have carried out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, and are keen to speak to anyone with information about the assault.

Investigating officer Stacey Swainston said: "Through our enquiries we are aware there were a number of cars who were travelling down the road at the time of this incident and could have seen something which might assist our enquiries."

Police are urging anyone with information to call them on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 46/149078/19, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
