Five consecutive overnight closures of the Thanet Way will be enforced from this evening, as engineers work to repair undulations on the dual carriageway.

The closures on the six-mile stretch between Whitstable and Herne Bay follow previous works carried out last month to fix subsidence issues.

The first of this week's closures comes into force this evening

The traffic order comes into play from 7pm today and lasts until 6am.

It will then be repeated for up to five days.

The repair work is described as "critical".

The Thanet Way will be shut from the Whitstable turn-off, up until the coastbound on-slip at Herne Bay. The London-bound route will be open as usual.

This week's work comes after subsidence issues arose last month, with the expansion and shrinkage of underlying clay causing unevenness.

In 2016/17, KCC spent five months repairing 10 miles of the Thanet Way between Dargate and Marshside.
