A warning has been sent to parents and dog owners after hidden pieces of glass were reportedly spotted on Whitstable and Herne Bay seafront.

Concerned social media users have taken to Facebook to warn others after bottles were smashed and scattered, with some even stood on end and hidden in grass.

One user posted on the Overheard in Whitstable Facebook group: "Please pass around a warning as a matter of urgency more so for children and animals.

"A street cleaner has asked for the word to be spread that glass bottles are being deliberately broken and the pieces stood on end.

"His own dog had almost trodden on a bottle bottom. He has seen these traps all the way to Herne Bay.

"Please keep your eyes open."
