Whitstable lifeboat crews rescue pair on capsized dinghy off Tankerton

Two people were rescued from the sea off Tankerton after their dinghy capsized on Saturday night.

They were seen frantically waving for help at just before 9pm, prompting numerous 999 calls.

The Whitstable lifeboat rescued them and brought them to shore where they were met by the Herne Bay coastguard.

Earlier in the day, the lifeboat was launched to help a 27ft motor cruiser called Lady Amore which had run out of fuel two miles off Herne Bay.

The crew towed the boat and the four people on board to a mooring just east of Whitstable Harbour.
