Oyster Morris dancers are preparing for their colourful May Day parade through Whitstable.
The town’s Jack-in-the-Green is the oldest of its kind in the country and it will be the 42nd year the celebrations have taken place in their present form.
It takes place on Bank Holiday Monday and is performed in three stages, starting at 11.30am from outside the town’s library in Oxford Street from where it will process to The Horsebridge.
At 1pm, the traditional dancers set off again from the Duke of Cumberland pub - this time joined by the Jack-in-the-Green, Maid Marian and Robin Hood - and make their way to the harbour.
After a short break for more dance displays in the harbour, the procession will make its way along Tower Parade and into the grounds of Whitstable Castle, where the celebrations include singing the May Song to welcome in the season.
The event is being supported by the Lions, Whitstable Scouts and Strode Park and organisers are hoping for a big turnout for the celebration.
