A helicopter was launched in the early hours to hunt for a man who fled from police.

At 2.20am, officers attended a property in the Sydney Road area of Whitstable - due to concerns for a woman's welfare.

No criminal offences were reported, but a man thought to be known to the woman left the property on foot upon the arrival of police.

A National Police Air Service helicopter was launched to search for him - but he could not be found.

Enquiries are ongoing.
