Traffic was held up for miles along a busy road following a "nasty" crash between a van and a car.
Cars were left in gridlock on the A299 between Whitstable and Faversham following the collision at around 7am.
Queues were said to be backing up for three miles from the crash on the southbound carriageway.
It is believed that the collision occurred near the Dargate turnoff, but motorists are reporting stationary traffic as far as the exit for Whitstable.
An eyewitness described the incident as "nasty".
"Hope everyone involved is okay," they added.
Some motorists were even seen to be reversing back up the slip-road to avoid joining the queues along the A299.
Meanwhile, traffic was crawling between Whitstable and Canterbury as motorists attempt to avoid the queues.
Following delays, the crash has now been cleared and traffic is flowing again.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 7am following a collision involving a car and a van on the A299 Thanet Way, London-bound near Dargate.
"Officers attended to ensure the safety of other road-users. No serious injuries were reported."
