A Whitstable holiday home has been ranked among the best on the planet.
St Michaels was rated one of the world's top 30 high-end rental homes, based on traveller ratings and reviews, at TripAdvisor's second annual Travellers' Choice awards on Tuesday.
The enormous five-bedroom property, located just off the Thanet Way near Clapham Hill, sleeps up to 23 people – and prices start at £570 a night.
The seaside pad offers plenty for all the family – including a log-burning barrel sauna, hot tub, cocktail bar, gym, pool room and its very own cinema.
St Michaels is owned and managed by husband and wife team David and Tatiana McCarthy.
It was built by David in 2001, and was the couple's primary home until April 2015, when they converted the 4,500sq ft property into a holiday home for others to enjoy.
The couple's guests have left rave reviews on the TripAdvisor website – with many describing it as the "perfect" venue for birthday celebrations, family get-togethers and relaxing holidays.
One guest from Maidstone wrote: "Tatiana and Dave are fabulous hosts who have been so helpful from the moment I booked last year and it was an absolute pleasure to finally meet them. It's hard to find the words to describe St Michaels. It is simply magnificent.
"It was a weekend of total luxury for the 15 of us. All of the huge beds are so so comfortable and everything has been thought of.
"The decor, the wonderful bathrooms, the huge living room, amazing games rooms with cinema screen, the massive fully equipped kitchen for entertaining, the hot tub, sauna, gym, beautiful gardens, I could go on.
"If you are looking at St Michael's for a holiday then do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed."
TripAdvisor spokesman Laurel Greatrix said: “This year’s winners highlight the incredible variety of homes on TripAdvisor Rentals, and the many different travellers they appeal to."Winners range from a family-friendly home in Orlando with a private pool, to a chic centrally located apartment in Rome. But one thing every winner has in common is an owner who provides an exceptional experience.
“And with a few more quirky homes appearing across the three categories this year – an adorable Shepherd’s hut in the UK, for example – it’s clear that travellers are looking for something truly memorable when it comes to their accommodations.”
