A lucky punter has won a rare Tesla worth £65,000 after taking part in a UK-wide "spot the ball" competition.
James Aldridge, 38, from Whitstable, was left speechless after he won a Tesla Model 3 Performance and £20,000 in cash, through the BOTB Dream Car Competition.
The weekly contest offers punters the chance to win a top-of-the-range vehicle each in exchange for correctly guessing the position of a football in a photograph.
Mr Aldridge began entering the competition a few months ago, and was stunned to see the car at the bottom of his street on Tuesday, July 30.
He said: “I always thought that if you’re going to get an electric car then you might as well go for a top end one.
“As soon as I saw it I thought ‘why not?’. I never, ever thought I’d end up owning one.
“Maybe I’ll take it to Wales, there are some nice roads there.”
The Tesla Model 3 has a 348-mile range and goes from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds.
Not only did Mr Aldridge win the rare electric car, but he also bagged £20,000 which he already has plans to spend.
He said: “I think it’ll go towards next year’s holiday. We’ve been to every British Grand Prix for the last few years so this can go towards Silverstone.”
BOTB presenter Christian Williams said finding and borrowing a the rare Tesla Model 3 to surprise James with was "a real challenge".
He said: “I’m so glad we were able to borrow one for the surprise – the real thing is definitely better than a picture.”
BOTB was founded in 1999 and has given away over £29million worth of prizes to date.
