A man in his 60s was assaulted outside Sainsbury’s during a row over a disabled parking spot.
The victim was with a woman who challenged a motorist for parking in the bay at the supermarket in Reeves Way, Chestfield.
Investigating officer PC Tom Hill said: “It was reported that a woman, who was with the victim, had spoken to the suspect about parking in a disabled bay in the car park.
“The woman received verbal abuse and the victim was assaulted by the suspect, who then got into a car and drove away.
“Thankfully the victim was not injured but both he and the woman understandably felt shaken after the incident.”
The alleged attacker is a white man, about 6ft tall, and aged between 45 and 50. He was wearing cropped trousers and a t-shirt. He was driving a silver Honda Civic.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault at 5.20pm on Monday, July 23.
