A man was found dead in a car at Clowes Wood just outside Chestfield on Saturday morning.
Police officers went to the car park off Radfall Road at 10.50am after concerned calls from members of the public.
The man was dead when officers arrived. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Mum-of-two Trudie Bridges visited Clowes Wood with her children and her niece, who are all under four.
The 27-year-old, of Linden Avenue, Herne Bay, saw a body laying on the ground between two cars around 12.30pm.
She said: "It was a shock really and quite upsetting, especially as I had the children with me.
"I don't know why the police didn't do more to conceal it like put a tent up.
"Other than that I didn't really get a good look and couldn't tell you how old he was or anything. It's sad, though."
Officers are continuing inquiries and are preparing a report for the coroner. They are not releasing any other information.
Clowes Wood is owned by the Forestry Commission and is a popular destination for dog walkers and ramblers.
