He’s fast becoming the one to watch in the dog world.
But petit pooch Chief is taking it all in his stride, despite getting almost 10,000 followers on his Instagram page in just two months.
His owners, Megan Simpson, 19, and her boyfriend Ross Simpson, 26, who live in Harbour Street in Whitstable, were inspired to set up an account for their pug after seeing another dog, Doug the Pug, in the US, attract a staggering two million followers.
But Miss Simpson admitted she never thought it would take off quite as much as it has.
“We thought we could do the same and get him a few followers,” she said.
“We had heard about Doug the Pug and thought ‘what’s he got that Chief hasn’t?’ – then it just went mad.
“He’s got almost 10,000 followers on Instagram and we know they are real because of the number of likes and comments he gets.”
The couple, who met on a ski season in France, bought the cute canine on a whim when he was just nine weeks old.
“We were sat on the sofa watching a film and we said how we could imagine an adorable puppy laying between us,” she said.
“We love huge dogs but we knew this wasn’t really possible living in a flat. We were looking at some dogs (online) and this pug came up.
“We went to see him the next day. He was the last one in the litter – he was absolutely tiny, we think he was the runt as he’s taking a while to grow.
“When we met him he was so quiet and shy but he has come out of his shell. He’s so confident now.”
Miss Simpson said they “love him like a son” and want to make other people happy by showing him off.
“His photos are simple so far but the ideas we have for Chief once he is fully grown are endless. From hilarious outfits to acting out famous movie scenes,” she said.
“People really love him and he makes people happy. We’re trying to make him bigger so we’ve set up a Facebook page and will take more time on him making videos.
“We don't want an American pug ruling the scenes. Let's get a great British pug showing off his English rose charms.”
