A badly damaged double decker bus and car are blocking off traffic after colliding on a busy road.

The Stagecoach number 4 service and a Mitsubishi crashed at about 11.45am on the Old Thanet Way in Whitstable.

It is thought the two vehicles collided as the car turned into the Prospect Retail Park, which hosts Aldi and M&S supermarkets.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene about 30 minutes later, with both police and paramedics called.

A number of passengers remain on the bus, with the driver and a man at the wheel of the Mitsubishi seen making lengthy phone calls after the crash.
