A popular restaurant worker stabbed near Whitstable railway station has finally left hospital but has still not been able to tell police what happened.
Modasher Hossain, who is in his 50s and known as Sharif, was knifed to his lower body in the early hours of December 17 as he was making his way home.
He spent several weeks in hospital and a fundraising page to help the family of Mr Hossain, described as a "kind, gentle soul" who worked at the Gandhi Indian restaurant in Herne Bay, totalled more than £10,000 within four weeks.
A 25-year-old man, Lewis Day, of Hereson Road, Ramsgate, has since been charged in relation to the attack and awaits trial in June.
But at a hearing at Canterbury Crown Court today, prosecutor Peter Forbes said it was "regrettable" that police had still not been able to take an account of the incident from the alleged victim due to his ongoing poor health.
Mr Forbes added that Mr Hossain, having been discharged from a London hospital, was also due to be "admitted locally" for further medical assessment.
The court heard the prosecution is also awaiting DNA analysis results ahead of the trial which is due to start on June 24.
Day, who has been remanded in custody, denies wounding Mr Hossain with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knife.
A further hearing to update the court will be held on April 26.
A 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both from Margate, were also arrested and interviewed in connection with the incident in Old Bridge Road.
It is believed they remain under investigation.
The online fundraiser for Mr Hossain was set up by his restaurant colleagues and in January they shared an update to say he was out of intensive care but still receiving specialist support.
They also thanked everyone who had donated, adding: "We knew Sharif was loved by local people but the vast amount of you who have been so generous is astonishing."
