Traffic is being held up following a car fire on the A299 Thanet Way this afternoon.

Fire crews were called to a vehicle at about 12.55pm at the Seasalter junction on the A299 coastbound.

Kent Fire and Rescue said the flames from the vehicle had also set fire to a nearby grass verge.

Crews wearing breathing equipment used hoses to put out the blaze and left after 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire is unknown and there are no reported injuries.
