Two pharmacies in Whitstable have closed suddenly due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The branches will be shut “until further notice”, Whitstable Medical Practice has confirmed.

People who collect their medication from Estuary View pharmacy in Boorman Way, and Seasalter pharmacy in Faversham Road, will now need to select a new one.

In a post on Facebook, surgery bosses said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Estuary View and Seasalter Pharmacies (independently run by a third party) are now closed until further notice.

“If you collect your medication from one of these pharmacies you will need to select a new pharmacy.

“Please contact us at info.wmp@nhs.net to let us know your new preference.

“Please include your name, address and date of birth so we can identify you correctly.”

Alongside the closure, low stock issues are impacting other pharmacies making it more difficult for patients to get their prescriptions.

The Facebook post added: “We are advised that stock issues remain a problem for all other pharmacies listed below:

“Penenden Heath Pharmacy in Maidstone, Ashworths Dispensing Chemist in Ashford, Minster Pharmacy on Sheppey, Cheadles Dispensing Chemist in Whitstable High Street, Cheadles Chemist in Giles Avenue, Canterbury, and Cheadles Chemist in St Dunstans Street, Canterbury.

“We will update patients as we know more.

“In the meantime, we ask for your patience as we are dealing with an unprecedented number of calls and queries.”
