The most expensive two-bed terrace on the market in Kent has an eye-watering price tag of £900,000 – but agents say it is all about the location.
The firm selling the unassuming 1950s home argues its value is justified by the highly-prized sea views it enjoys and the direct access owners have to Whitstable’s popular pebble beach.
The house is in sought-after West Beach and is for sale at more than six times the price of the county’s cheapest two-bed terrace.
It was refurbished by its present owners in 2019 to complement its beachside setting, and re-roofed in 2023.
According to Rightmove, it is currently the top-priced two-bed terraced house in Kent, but agents say its desirable location is its biggest selling point.
“Whitstable remains very sought after, and anything beach frontline even more so,” says Rory Patterson, of Harvey Richard & West in the town.
“We have recently completed on several million-pound-plus properties, one of which has sold for £1.55 million after being on the market for less than a month.”
Mr Patterson describes the newly listed two-bed as “wonderfully positioned in the heart of the town”, close to all amenities and, crucially, with parking.
It has been rearranged to be open plan on the ground floor, with a kitchen at one end opening up to a raised living and dining area leading out to the beach.
A central staircase leads up to the first floor where the master bedroom to the front of the property has its own sea-facing balcony.
At the other end of the property ladder, the cheapest two-bed terrace for sale in Kent will set you back just £135,000.
Located in Dale Street, Chatham, the home has been partly underpinned and is in need of complete renovation, says estate agent Greyfox.
For £152,000 buyers could also snap up a mid-terraced two-bed in Tower Street, Dover, which agent Springbok Properties says also needs modernisation but “presents a fantastic opportunity for any house hunter”.
Earlier this week KentOnline revealed how first-time buyers were struggling to get on the property ladder, with the average sold price in the county last year a staggering £429,029.
