A young girl got into difficulty during a swimming lesson and was given CPR before being taken to hospital.
The incident happened at Whitstable Swimming Pool – which is operated by Active Life – yesterday afternoon.
Lifeguards pulled the child from the water when she found herself struggling, and paramedics rushed to the scene.
The condition of the youngster now is not fully known, however, she was conscious before being taken to hospital for checks.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “SECAmb was called at approximately 4.50pm yesterday to reports of a young person in need of medical attention at Whitstable Swimming Pool.
“Ambulance crews attended and the person was given emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital for further checks.
“We would like to thank the centre staff and all those involved in coming to the aid of the person prior to our arrival.”
An Active Life spokesman added: “In the early evening on Wednesday a young girl got into difficulties during a swim lesson.
“Our lifeguard team intervened, paramedics were called immediately, and the girl was taken conscious and breathing to a local hospital.
“We send our best wishes to the young girl and her family and hope to see her back at the centre soon.”
