Whitstable Town boss Scott Porter looking to progress in FA Trophy

Scott Porter wants a good run in the Buildbase FA Trophy this season for Whitstable Town.
Whitstable travel to Bostik North side Brentwood Town in the first qualifying round of the competition on Saturday.
There is £3,250 in prize money up for grabs for the winners of the tie.
Manager Porter said: “It is a big game for us. There’s quite a bit of prize money up on offer and it is a winnable game.
“We want to do well in the competition and there is a good chance for us to do that.
“You never know how far you will get in the FA Trophy but we have a good chance of getting through to the next round when there are a few big teams coming in.
“We have not had a chance to get them watched and we just have to focus on what we do well.”
Their long unbeaten run of 10 games came to an end on Saturday but Porter has backed his side to pick themselves back up and go on a similar run again.
He said: “We were on a really good run being 10 games unbeaten but that has come to an end now and we will go again. We want to go on another run now and that is always the target.
“We have to dust ourselves down now and get back to basics.
“We have got a good bunch of lads in the dressing room and it was clear after that defeat to VCD they don’t like losing.”
VCD Athletic ended that run after they beat them 3-1 after not taking their chances to get back in the game – something Porter is looking for an improvement on for their next match.
He added: “We were not good. At this level you have to be on your game week in week out to get something from games.
“You have to take your chances and it is something we did not do. We changed formation to match them up and had three good chances that we did not put them away.
“Last year we could get away with it but this season we can’t afford to.
“When we don’t give our best and win games it annoys me. They were a good side though and you can’t take that away from them.”
