Gary Sayer faces a three-match ban after being sent-off at Redhill on Tuesday just days after returning to the side after a month out with an ankle injury.

The Herne Bay defender featured in the 1-0 defeat at Ryman League, Division 1 South leaders Burgess Hill on Saturday, only to be sent-off in stoppage-time in the 2-1 defeat at Redhill as Bay’s inconsistent form continued.

They are still unbeaten at home but they have only picked up two points out of 18 on the road – the second worst record in the league.

Assistant manager Gavin Theze said: “Gary made a tackle on the halfway line, sliding in from the side. I spoke to the referee after and he said Gary had left the ground.”

Theze was no fan of the man in charge, saying: “He was the worst referee I have ever seen and I have seen a few. He made the game disjointed – the game was all about him.”

Stuart King's eighth goal of the season was not enough to earn Bay apoint and Theze
added: “We played well, without perhaps doing enough to win. Kingy walked the ball in to score, we then went three up front in the last half hour, had the momentum and were right on top.

He added: “We didn’t play well at Burgess Hill but did enough to have got something out of the game.

“We had chances but that’s football. We have played worse this season than the last two games and won.”

On the injury front, Danny Walder is facing another six weeks out and is due to see a specialist about his strained knee ligament. Ben Brown (heel), James Turner (ankle) and Sam Hasler (knee) are all still sidelined, while Connor Sanders picked up an ankle injury at Redhill.
Bay are at home to second-placed Corinthian Casuals on Saturday and Theze said: “They are flying at the moment but we are unbeaten at home and want to carry that on.”
