Isthmian League Whitstable Town have completed the signing of left-back Tom Mills.

“It’s fantastic news for the whole club that we were able to sign such a good player," said Whitstable boss Lloyd Blackman.

"I have been speaking to Tom for a few weeks and our conversations have been really, really positive.

"I was delighted we were able to get his signature. He is good friends with a few lads here already and will be a fantastic asset to us as we prepare for the new season."

Mills, who made nearly 350 appearances for Maidstone between 2010 and 2017, featured in Whitstable's 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Cray Wanderers on Saturday.

He is not the only signing announced by Whitstable boss Blackman, who has also recruited Liam Gillies, who moves back to The Belmont after a short stay with Sevenoaks.

Former Gillingham youngster Jay Hards has signed for Whitstable after a spell on loan last season while former Herne Bay man Victor Aiyelabola also joins.

Aiyelabola scored against Whitstable for Herne Bay last season and also turned out for Erith & Belvedere.

Blackman added: "Victor trained with us at the end of last season before lockdown and impressed then.

"We were in touch during the summer and since he’s been back this season, he’s been first class.

"He is technically very gifted and again can play in two or three positions in the attacking areas and is one I’m excited to work with."
