Whitstable Town boss Scott Porter not giving up hope of a reprieve from relegation to Southern Counties East League

Scott Porter still believes he can keep Whitstable in the Ryman League but knows they can’t afford to drop another point.

Town are rooted to the foot of Division 1 South and are nine points behind third-bottom Walton & Hersham with just three games left.

Walton & Hersham are in freefall, having lost nine on the spin and if Town could somehow overhaul them it may earn them a reprieve from relegation.

Porter takes his side to East Grinstead (21st) on Saturday before their trip to Peacehaven (23rd) next weekend and then a home game against Guernsey on the final day.

He said: "We’ve still got a big part of the season to go. I want to finish third from bottom and we’ll keep fighting until we can’t do it.

"We’ve got three cup finals, a mini-season because we’re still trying to get third from bottom with the reprieve scenario.

"We picked out games when I got here to win five out of nine and I’m still on course to do that.

"We need to win all three of these games, finish on a high and hopefully Walton & Hersham continue losing and conceding goals.

"We’ll keep doing what we’re doing and hopefully get three wins out of three."
