Whitstable Town manager Lloyd Blackman and his coaching team are working hard to make the the most of Osman Proni’s talent.

The highly-rated playmaker signed for the club from Sevenoaks Town earlier this summer and has since played a prominent role in pre-season.

Proni got off the mark for the Oystermen last Tuesday with a goal in his side’s 6-4 defeat to Margate.

Blackman said: “There’s lots to his game that we’ll continue to work on.

“He’s a young kid that I’ve been an admirer of for the last year or so and he was one of the first boys I brought in.

“He’s got some amazing technical ability and can do things not many other players can.

“What we’ve got to work on with him is the whole package as opposed to just his technical aspects, there are parts of the game he needs to continue working on and developing.

“We’re in constant communication as coaches with him to make sure he tries to improve.

“He can certainly create something out of nothing and he’s got a great attitude and I’m really pleased to have him.

“He’s a young boy still developing and learning and we’ve given him a platform to go and express himself. If he continues to work hard like he is doing then he’ll be a real asset.”

Blackman admits the youngster is capable of playing in more than one position, the strongest of which he expects to become clearer over time.

He added: “Generally he’s a centre-midfield player but I do think there are options to play him in different areas and it’s something me and the coaching staff have discussed.”

Blackman added: “He’s certainly a rough diamond, he knows that and that there are areas he needs to work on and improve but it’s not for a lack of attitude and ability.

“It’s just going to be through experience and the coaching.”

Whitstable strengthened their squad this week through the signing of Ramsgate midfielder Tijan Jadama, who played for Town on loan in November 2017.

He followed Aaron Millbank through the door after the forward completed a move to the Oystermen ahead of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Bowers & Pitsea.

Having won 4-2 against a Bromley XI on Tuesday, Blackman’s side host New Romney in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.
