Whitstable Town joint boss Danny Ward has revealed that four clubs have approached he and brother Jimmy about their availability next season.

The Wards complete their first full season with the Reds at home to relegation-threatened East Grinstead on Saturday, and Ward says the pair have yet to decide where they will be next season.

They have been strongly linked with a return to former club Ramsgate but when asked about the rumours, Ward said: “Four clubs have asked if we are interested (for next season), but I’ve not spoken to any of them.

“I’ve told my chairman (Gary Johnson) that I’m not speaking to anybody until the season is over, but then we’ll sit down and see exactly what they are offering. That’s the way things work at this time of year.”

If the Ward brothers do decide to move on after one season in charge at The Belmont, then the club’s financial restraints will inevitably be a factor.

Ward said: “That’s the biggest problem we’ve got. Other clubs know the size of our wage bill and so they will come knocking on the doors of people like Ian Pulman, Kane Rowland and Tom Loynes, who have scored a fantastic 50 goals between them this season, but that’s the world we live in and you can’t do much about it.”

The Wards could do former employers Ramsgate a favour with a victory against East Grinstead but they will be without Scott Heard, who is suspended, and Joe Kane, who is unavailable.

Ward said: “They are two big players for us and we will be down to the bare bones, but we’ll make the best of it.”
