Why armed police were called to Tadworth Road, Ashford

Armed police descended on a residential area following reports of a person in a property with a weapon.

The firearms officers were spotted in Tadworth Road in Ashford on Sunday following calls from concerned neighbours at 3.35pm.

However, upon arrival, it was found the resident had a lawfully held air weapon and no further action was taken.

A police spokesperson told KentOnline: “Kent Police was called following a report that a person at a property in Tadworth Road, Ashford, may have a weapon.

“Officers attended the address and spoke to the occupant.

“A lawfully held air weapon was located and no further action was taken.”
