A 25-year-old man accused of rape and false imprisonment has been held in custody.

Matthew Thompson, of Grampion Close, Ashford, is alleged to have raped and assaulted a woman in December.

He is also said to have prevented her from leaving the scene when she tried to do so.

Thompson was charged with rape, false imprisonment and assault.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on January 13.
