Two teenagers have been charged after a crime spree saw three houses in rural parts of Kent targeted by vehicle thieves.

Officers investigating a series of burglaries have charged Patrick Harty, 18, of Kettering in Northamptonshire and a 16-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – with conspiracy to burgle.

In the early hours of Wednesday, April 10, a house near Tenterden was broken into and a campervan stolen from outside.

The following day, a Volkswagen was stolen from the driveway of a property in the village of Throwley, near Faversham.

A third incident then took place on the afternoon of Monday, April 15, when a house in Langton Green, near Tunbridge Wells, was broken into and another Volkswagen was stolen.

An investigation by Kent Police's Crime Squad has since been ongoing, resulting in the arrest of three teenagers on Tuesday, April 16.

A 14-year-old boy has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Both suspects are due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today (Thursday).
