A man who filmed himself on TikTok vandalising planters promoting LGBT+ messages has been arrested.
Earlier this week a video appeared on the social media platform showing a man pushing over planters made by primary school children in Bromley town centre.
The floral displays were decorated with LGBTQ+ messaging which the man called “disgusting”.
He then asks a woman passing by “excuse me - do you support all of this stuff? LGBT,” to which she replies “yes of course”.
In another video clip on the same TikTok account, a threat is made to return to the town at some point with a “group of people” with the aim of “destroying every LGBT sign there”.
Yesterday Met Police said they had acted “swiftly” to arrest a man in relation to the criminal damage.
Town Centre team inspector Gary Allen said the incident was being treated as a “motivated hate crime attack on our LGBTQ+ communities.”
The suspect was taken into custody but has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
