A van was completely gutted by flames and one person left suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire on the M25.
The cause of the blaze, which took place on the clockwise carriageway between J4 for Bromley and J5 for the M26 yesterday evening, is not yet known.
Three fire engines were called to the scene with police and ambulance crews also present.
One person was checked over by medics for smoke inhalation.
The response was initially led by British Transport Police who had been passing the scene at the time.
BTP said: “Whilst on patrol our officers came across this van fire on the M25 in Kent.
“Officers assisted in lane closures along with Kent Police to aid KFRS in have a safe scene to work at.
“South East Coast Ambulance Service was also in attendance as one person suffered smoke inhalation.”
A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service added: “KFRS was called to reports of a van alight on the M25 clockwise between J4 Bromley and J5 (M26).
“Three fire engines where crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using compressed air foam.
“One person was checked over by firefighters as a precaution after inhaling some smoke.
“The cause is not known.”
