Part of the A2 is closed following a serious crash involving two cars and a lorry.
The London-bound carriageway between the A260 for Denton and the A2050 for Canterbury remains shut while accident investigation work is carried out.
The exit slip road onto the A260 towards Denton is also closed as a result of the incident, with traffic building up back to Bonny Bush Hill.
Offering the latest update at 12.15pm, a National Highways spokesperson confirmed police are leading investigations at the scene.
National Highways service providers had also been in attendance assisting with traffic management.
Traffic is being diverted via local routes, with congestion said to be very heavy in Barham.
A police spokesman said: “We were called to a serious collision on the A2, Londonbound near Barham, at 6.42am today.
“Officers are at the scene of the incident, which involved two cars and a lorry. They have closed the carriageway and put a diversion in place.
“The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance and motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.”
