Trains are now said to be running normally again after a car crash damaged a level crossing’s barriers, forcing a temporary halt to services.

Southeastern has confirmed trains are now able to travel through Sturry again following the incident, which was first reported by the company at 6.43am.

It had affected services between Ashford and Ramsgate, which pass through Canterbury, as users attempting to access London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross via Tonbridge.

A vehicle collided with a road light next to a level crossing, which obstructed the barriers and prevented them from being lowered.

Southeastern and police have been contacted for comment.
